Fuimos a México!

cathedralTPR spent a week in Mexico earlier this month to celebrate the grand opening of Yucatan Country Club and the launch of the Yucatan Country Residential & Golf real estate offering in the beautiful colonial city of Merida.

This 800-acre community is home to El Jaguar, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, and several high-tech fitness academies created by notorious athletes. Exciting stuff, but even more exciting because a few folks you may have heard of – Olympic legend Mark Spitz, legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus and renowned golf instructor Mike Malaska – were on hand to inaugurate the community’s Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf and Mark Spitz Academy of Swimming.

If taking in press conferences and clinics with the likes of those three weren’t enough, over the course of the week, we were able to showcase the sights of this beautiful city (originally the ancient Mayan city, Th’o) to the media we hosted, and in turn, received the full Yucatecan experience – we visited Merida’s Plaza Mayor, home to the oldest cathedral in North America, were treated to a lovely performance by the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra and took a break to enjoy some margaritas at local favorite, Panchos.

We also enjoyed some authentic Yucatecan food and drink while there, in the form of Cochinita Pibil, a popular marinated pork dish, and Xtabentun, a Mayan liqueur made from a type of honey found only on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. We even received handmade Mayan doll decanters in which to store our new favorite cocktail from our Yucatecan hosts, which are now proudly displayed in our office on the Turner PR bar! (What, you don’t have a bar in your office?)
