Out of Office: Eating Your Way Through Madrid

Out of Office: Eating Your Way Through Madrid
What to do when you have 36 hours in Madrid? Eat your way through the city, obviously. This was my first time in Madrid, and I absolutely fell in love. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the architecture and city itself is beautiful. I think all we did was eat. But we walked and explored some too. If you love food as much as do, here are a few places you must try: Ten Con Ten. Apparently the place to see and be seen, this may be the best meal I’ve ever had. We started with a chilled gazpacho, followed by the most amazing burrata salad, truffled mushroom orzo (which I ate extremely slow to savor every bite) and chocolate mousse for dessert. I still dream about this meal. Ten Con Ten Poncelot Cheese Bar. My friend Channing and I have a minor obsession with cheese and making cheese plates. So naturally we sought out a cheese bar in Madrid (after eating a delicious brunch and before a stop at the bakery). Take a seat at the bar, and they’ll roll a cheese cart out to you. Doesn’t get much better than that. Poncelot-Cheese-Bar Mama Framboise. If you have a sweet tooth, make a stop here. Their macarons are baked to perfection and the desserts are just... well, you’ll just have to try them. Photo: Mama Framboise Photo: Mama Framboise Mercado de San Miguel. This was the grand finale of our trip. The markets in spain are incredible – I wish we had more of this concept in the states. Every type of food you could want – sushi, Italian, tapas, cheese bars, dessert and even a buratta bar. Grab a glass of wine and roam through the many different food stations. IMG_0267
