#Fail

Content marketing is still a vital piece of online and social media efforts for virtually every type of brand. However, so many businesses are still making the same mistakes when it comes to their overall strategies. “Content marketing is not a ‘set it and forget it’ type of initiative,” writes Pam Moore. “You have to constantly be feeding the content engine, inspiring and connecting with your audience to achieve desired objectives. Bottom line, content marketing for business requires work.” Forbes has a roundup of the biggest content mistakes – and tips on how to avoid them.

Free & Easy

Great content marketing doesn’t necessarily mean you have to flex your budget. Case in point: these seven free tools that can transform your content marketing. Need cool photo editing and graphics capabilities? Try Canva. Need a great title for your latest blog post? Check out HubSpot's Blog Topic Generator. Looking for great photos? Find royalty free imagery at Pixabay. “Even if you don't have a big budget and you can't hire a team or invest in the best tools, there's still hope,” writes Amar Hussain.

Amplify It

How can you get your content in front of the right audience? Forbes’ Lauren Fairbanks has five must-try tactics. Consistency is key, she says. “[It’s] just as crucial to keep a consistent publishing schedule so that you have a continuous flow of content to keep audiences coming back.” Also, content marketing amplification is a multichannel approach. “A combination of earned, owned and paid media will dramatically increase your chances of being seen,” Fairbanks writes.

Content Experience

Content marketing is a constantly evolving field. So what’s next? The whole thing is moving from content marketing to content experience, writes Diginomica’s Barb Mosher Zinck. “Context experience is the evolution of content marketing; the next logical step in the investment of content.” So, that means building a content experience framework, which incorporates personalization and distribution strategies. Definitely worth exploring!
