TURNER Gift Guide: What to Get the Outdoor Adventurer in Your Life

TURNER Gift Guide: What to Get the Outdoor Adventurer in Your Life

For many of the us in TURNER’s Denver office, our holiday wish lists involve biking and hiking trails, fresh powder on the weekends, beautiful crags to climb and rivers to raft. Luckily, we’re in Colorado and get all those things regardless of if we’ve been good this year. Since you can’t claim credit for the snow or hiking trails, we’ve come up with a gift guide for the outdoor adventurer in your life.

Outdoor Gear and Clothing

Fjallraven’s High Coast Wind Anorak (women) or Keb Eco-Shell Anorak (men) are perfect out for protecting against cold winds when hiking, cycling or paddling. These layers are durable, but light. The pocket in the front doubles as a stuff sack for easy packing.

High West Distillery’s Campfire Whiskey

Is it redundant to drink campfire whiskey around the campfire? This bourbon is so good we don’t care. From Utah’s first distillery, High West Distillery & Saloon, pairs sweet and smoky elements for a unique whiskey warm up.

REI Passage 2 Tent

This three-season tent is perfect for the backpacker on your list. It’s lightweight, packs small and is easy to set up. We love that this two-person tent includes a gear loft and two doors, creating a comfortable shelter in the backcountry.

Book: Alone on the Wall by Alex Honnold

Give inspiration through the stories of extreme outdoor adventurers. Alex Honnold, one of the most well-known climbers in the world, has broken speed climbing records and constantly pushes the limits on free solo climbs. His stories about scaling thousand foot mountains without a rope or a partner are either inspiring or terrifying.

Outdoor Education Classes

Give the gift of safety this season. Several nature conservancies and mountain schools offer avalanche and wilderness safety classes. For example, The Colorado Mountain School in Estes Park offers a four-day hut trip that combines avalanche education and cross country skiing.

National Park Service Annual Pass

It’s the National Park Service Centennial in 2016, which means it’s the time to explore some of the most beautiful places in the United States. The America Beautiful pass grants access to more than 2,000 national parks, wildlife refugees, national forests and other protected lands. It may look like just a little card, but it’s actually a ticket to adventure in places like Katmai in Alaska, the Grand Canyon, Everglades, Olympic National Park, the Grand Tetons, volcanoes in Hawaii… the list goes on and on.
