Fall Fashion Inspiration

Fall Fashion Inspiration

The return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte is here (and with REAL pumpkin this time) so that can only mean one thing: the official beginning of fall … and the never-ending Instragram feed of the enviable, yet overdone Pinterest-esque staged photo: PSL in hand, tartan scarf draped over shoulder with an air of blasé, and big ”hide your face” sunglasses. You know exactly what I’m talking about.

With a little inspiration from NYFW, here are the fashion items I’m most looking forward to sporting this fall!

The first question on my mind for fall fashion is: In the modern day, does one dare break the age old “no white jeans after Labor Day” rule? I plan to flirt with the faux pas and pair white jeans with plaid flannel shirts/sweatshirts/blanket scarves for the perfect summer-fall transitional outfit.

For boots this fall, the black boot trend reigns supreme for the second season in a row. I bought my first pair of Stewart Weitzman’s last December and regrettably didn’t wear them to the point of them becoming my signature shoe like they have for Victoria Beckham.

City-slicker chic not your style? Androgynous looks are gaining momentum. Not to forget the current white sneaker craze, this fall I’ll be tossing my Converse aside and giving my Adidas Stan Smiths a break in order to give the K-Swiss Classics a test run. Pair ‘em with a floppy beanie and you’ll be sure to get a once-over by every Millennial entrepreneur on the block.

What’s an outfit without a fabulous bag? #1 on my splurge list this season is a bucket bag. If a bucket bag were a person I would describe him/her as avant-garde, frivolous, and effortless chic. The shape is uncommon – which would force me to clear out the excessive amount of lipsticks floating around in my bag. Necessities only.

And last but not least, the most timeless piece of fall fashion: the peacoat. The layering opportunities are truly endless. When looking for the perfect peacoat make sure to consider quality and size. A peacoat made with a cashmere wool blend will no doubt keep you warm as well as last a generation if taken care of properly.

ALWAYS size up when purchasing a coat…all the more room for scarves, thick-knit sweaters, and vests.  There could be nothing worse than wearing a too tight jacket only to be mistaken as the stuffed turkey on Thanksgiving.
