Father (Still) Knows Best: What We Learned From Our Dads
This Father’s Day,  the TURNER team is celebrating our amazing dads and the lessons they taught us that made us the people we are today. Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.16.33 PM “The best piece of advice my father ever gave me was to take the summer after college off to travel the world before entering the workforce. The dumbest thing I’ve ever done was to refuse it!” - Kelsey Comstock Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.17.34 PM “The most of important thing my dad taught me is to always have a sense of humor.” - Tyler Wilcox Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.15.36 PM “My Dad always encourages me to keep dreaming and stay persistent. He never tells me I can’t do something, he always asks me how I’m working to make my dreams a reality.” - Amanda Lynch Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.18.33 PM “The best advice my dad ever gave me was to always stick to my values & surround myself with people of similar values.” - Megan Brown Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.20.30 PM “My dad has always reminded me to stay positive and to 'walk tall,' so a glass half full mentality has kind of been engraved in me. Along with my mom, he is my biggest supporter and 100 percent my hero.” - Holly Dugan Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.19.38 PM “The biggest thing my father taught me was The importance of a good sense of humor. Also, that you don’t have to tape off and paint around light switch plates – they are in fact removable. The best piece of advice is If you say you are going to show up, show up. And when you show up, be present.”   - Melanie Dennig Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.21.20 PM “My Dad taught me the value of staying focused; you can have all the advantages in the world, but nothing substitutes hard work and putting time into the things you care about. He’s displayed this through his passions and hobbies — among many things, he’s a self-taught (and amazing) flamenco & classical guitarist. I’ve always admired the years of daily practice and dedication he put forth to achieve this.” - Jordan Gover Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.10.19 PM “The best piece of advice my father gave me was 'You can’t take back stupid.' Simple, straightforward, and so, so true.”  - Caitlin Martz Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.11.28 PM "My Dad is full of hidden wisdom here’s just a two pieces: Put in the hard work and you will be rewarded… eventually. The rewards don’t come without the hard work and it takes time and patience to earn them! The importance of a signature wardrobe. My Dad has perfected both his corporate uniform (khaki or navy dress pants with a white and blue striped button up) and casual wardrobe (White New Balance sneakers, tall white crew socks, white cotton t-shirt paired with OP corduroy shorts) and the man never strays. He bought a pair of khaki shorts a couple years back and it was a major deal. As a result of his signature wardrobe, he is always comfortable and ready to leave the house before the rest of the family.” - Kimberly Rodgers Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.13.22 PMAs an immigrant and relentless traveler, Dad taught me early on to be a global citizen and endlessly curious about other cultures. He also had an unparalleled work ethic and loved his work and family equally. I can relate.” – Mariana DiMartino Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 2.14.24 PM “My Dad taught me to bike, camp, swim, run long distance, shoot guns, bows and arrows, throw axes, whittle — you name it. He was my hero.” - Tracey Ornelas
