The Ingredients for a Perfect Colorado Summer

The Ingredients for a Perfect Colorado Summer
It's been exactly one month since I started here at TURNER, and I have been loving my time here! Leaving my job doing PR at the Colorado Tourism Office was hard, but luckily I still get to work (doing something I love) and play in this amazing state I have called home all of my life. In my opinion, we are approaching the best season of all here. As so many say, people may come to Colorado for the winter, but they stay for the summer. Besides getting outdoors with hiking, biking and festivals (because those are obvious and the best part of living here), below are some of my favorite activities necessary for the perfect Colorado summer.

Get Your Groove On at a Red Rocks Concert

IMG_2653 No Colorado summer is complete without at least one concert at Red Rocks. As the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheatre in the world, this venue has been on several notable musician’s bucket lists including U2, Sting and The Beatles to name a few. There is nothing like listening to your favorite band play under the stars at 6,450 feet above sea level surrounded by geological wonders. During the day, do as the locals do and go for a hike in the area, take a run up the amphitheatre steps or channel your inner yogi at Yoga on the Rocks (shout out to TURNER client Corepower Yoga for this amazing event!).

Indulge in One of Colorado’s Many Amazing Brews

Delicious beer plus outdoor patio equals a perfect summer afternoon.  Colorado's local breweries are in a variety of settings, offering views of Downtown Denver, the Flatirons in Boulder, or of stunning mountain peaks in every direction.

Cruise on a Mountain Road Trip

There is nothing like letting the windows down while driving the windy roads with views of majestic mountains and the wavering aspen trees. Clearly Katharine Lee Bates knew what she was talking about when she wrote "America the Beautiful" here. Once in the mountains, the amount of adventure to be had is endless.

Eat All the Food

tacos We aren’t only meat and potatoes folk as many might think. Colorado has a variety of options when wanting to indulge in some incredible food. Farm to table was in Colorado before it was popular everywhere else (seeing as agriculture is one of the state’s largest industries) and the chefs here are cooking up some really innovative food. This year, eight Colorado names made the James Beard Semi Finalist list! Some of my favorite spots include Hop Alley in Denver, Bin 707 in Grand Junction, Breckenridge Distillery in Breckenridge and Brown Dog Pizza in Telluride. Enjoy the Colorado sunshine and don’t forget to get out and play!
