Facebook Wants You To Watch

Keep your eyes peeled for a new Facebook tab in the coming weeks. The platform’s new Watch feature will let users – you guessed it – watch shows. According to Facebook, these shows will be made up of episodes — live or recorded — and follow a theme or storyline. And of course, there’s a social aspect involved as well. “Watch is personalized to help you discover new shows, organized around what your friends and communities are watching,” Facebook revealed. “For example, you’ll find sections like ‘Most Talked About,’ which highlights shows that spark conversation, ‘What’s Making People Laugh,’ which includes shows where many people have used the Haha reaction, and ‘What Friends Are Watching,’ which helps you connect with friends about shows they too are following.” What do you think – will you watch Watch?

Instagram’s New Threads

So Facebook is becoming a little more like traditional TV. And now, Instagram is becoming a little more like … Facebook? The photo-sharing platform just rolled out a new feature that threads comments together in a fashion not unlike Facebook’s comments. According to The Next Web, “you can now reply to individual comments; previously, you could only make a general comment under a photo. To start or participate in a thread, simply tap the reply button under individual messages.” A simple adjustment, but it should make Instagram into a more well-organized and social place.

Crowd Surfing & Crowd Sourcing

Snapchat’s innovating, too! Crowd Surf, a brand new feature on the wildly popular app turns short videos of a concert into a music video that’s much more watchable than just a bunch of quick clips. TechCrunch says that the feature “uses artificial intelligence machine learning technology to analyze when lots of people are all recording the same musical performance at the same time. It can then lace together the different angles while keeping the song playing smoothly so you can choose where to watch from and see more than 10 seconds of footage in a row.” Who needs concert tickets when you can Crowd Surf?

Pinching Pinterest

Everyone loves Pinterest for its inspiring imagery, right? Well, it’s about to get more inspiring. The platform is adding a new feature that allows users to get a closer look at Pins. Just pinch and zoom. “Lots of Pins have all kinds of good stuff in them, and sometimes you want to get a closer look at every inch,” Pinterest said. “So the next time you spot a pair of shoes you love, pinch to zoom in on all the details, like texture and color.” This has been one of the most-requested tools from Pinterest users – look for it on iPhone and iPad soon.
